The Exclusive Showing of the fabulous Rolls-Royce 100 EX Experimental Convertible

Compound - Atlanta

It will take a cool six million dollars to build and for $400,000-$500,000 a customized copy of it could be yours in a couple of years. The 100 EX Rolls-Royce Convertible rolls out in 2007. Meanwhile, prospective buyers got a glimpse of the beauty at a special viewing held at Atlanta's swanky night club- Compound September 16.

Hosted by Greg Williams of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Atlanta, the only Rolls-Royce dealer in Georgia, the elegant star-studded soiree brought out Atlanta's finest in the corporate, sports and entertainment worlds.

From Walt Disney Vice President Reggie Williams to Hip Hop entertainers TI, Big Boi, Monica, Jazze Pha, Sleepy Brown and Cee-Lo to sports stars TJ Duckett, Terrance Mathis, Shareef Abdur Rahim and Ed Hartwell to State Senator Kasim Reed and V103's Greg Street, the party was all glitz and glamour as everyone wanted to be photographed in front of the shiny luxury automobile.

The invitation-only celebration was for the arrival of the 100 EX Convertible,  a one-day swing around Atlanta first at the Rolls-Royce Atlanta Motor Cars showroom on Piedmont Road in Buckhead and then for the party at Compound. The car has been making its way across the country on a 13 week tour. Next stop, five cities in Florida (Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach) before heading to the West Coast.

During its East Coast swing, it's made stops in New York, Philadelphia, Connecticut and North Carolina.

Top markets for Rolls Royce is South Florida and Southern California but Southeast Rolls-Royce General Manager Paul Faletti said Atlanta is "a growing and developing market."  Faletti said since BMW purchased Rolls-Royce and changed the dealer network, "we are slowly introducing cars of this price level into the market."

"There is a mixture of people buying the car who are attracted to the Phantom, said Faletti. Newer money in Atlanta. Great sports town, great musician town. Lots of athletes and entertainers who like the car. That group of people is still minority as far as purchasers of the car. Most people who purchase the car are entrepreneurs who own small successful companies in slightly less glamorous businesses. They own furniture factories or are realtors, etc. When they reach the top, they gravitate towards Rolls-Royce to reward themselves with comfort with their wealth. Not to be showy, but to enjoy themselves. Spend some money on themselves," Faletti explained.

The 100 EX Convertible on tour is dark curzon, a color introduced for Rolls-Royce 100th anniversary in 2004. Those who purchase the car can have it customized with any color they desire. The convertible has a soft top and is built from the Rolls-Royce Phantom frame. It has "coach" doors that open backwards for ease in entering and exiting the car.

Traveling with the car to make sure everything ran smoothly were Sabine Breauer and Axel Obermayr of Germany.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Atlanta is located at 3040 Piedmont Road Atlanta Georgia 30305 and can be reached via phone at 404.237.6200.
