Power Networking Luncheon

11:30 am – 2:00 pm
Location: Ritz Carlton, Ballrooms 2, 6, 7 & 8
Ambassadors will have the opportunity to get together and network, talk about Power To End Stroke activities and best-practices, share ideas, and learn how ambassadors can propel the Power To End Stroke movement to the next level. There will be a moderated panel discussing different aspects of the campaign, areas of concern, and challenges ambassadors face.

Power Awards Gala

Dinner/Awards Presentation
Location: Ritz Carlton, Ballrooms 1, 2, 6, 7 & 8
7:00 pm – 10:30 pm

During the Awards Gala, we will honor a few of those that done tremendous work for the Power To End Stroke movement throughout the year.

National Honorees are:
Yolanda King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King
Will Downing, contemporary jazz musician
Mary Ida Vandross, mother of Luther Vandross
Mark McEwen, television weatherman and anchor, stroke survivor
Dr. Edgar Kenton, neurologist and American Stroke Association volunteer
Pastor Rudolph McKissick Jr., Pastor of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, Jacksonville, Florida

American Heart Association and American Stroke Association affiliates will also recognize one or two ambassadors, per affiliate, during the gala.

Strategic Alliances will also present two Strategic Alliance recognition awards. One is for an affiliate-nominated alliance organization and the other will be for a national alliance organization.

Power Sunday

Ms. Yolanda King (daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King) will speak at her father’s church in her own words about what Power To End Stroke means to her. Power Sunday will be observed in churches nationwide on this day in remembrance of congregation members who have died or suffered from stroke.

This program features some of the best known figures in the Civil Rights Movement including Georgia Supreme Court Justice Robert Benham and Xerona Clayton and others.
