  MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

Greetings All,

Well, well, well… yet another year is in the books.  2007 brought everything from shock to attacks ranging from U. S. Senate character assassination attempts to the attack on democracy in the form of the literal assassination of Benazir Bhutto.  The perpetual attack on society as a whole in the form of unequal justice in our nation and abroad; Jena 6, Genarlow Wilson or the many others – take your pick.  While on the other hand a real sense of an uneasy undercurrent of hunger, better yet a demand, for something different… for change.  To the joys and then the shock and sorrows of sudden loss.  It was a year that started out fresh with so much promise and optimism, but seemed to have quickly fallen short and taken us down another path.  Did anyone have a good 2007?  Its enough to give you a headache just thinking about it.  As Arnold Schwarzenegger said in Kindergarten Cop; “It’s not a tuuuu-mor.”  But wait… it was.  For me, personally, at least.  As some of you know (word travels fast in industry circles), fait decided that I cap off the last three months of ’07 recovering from a craniotomy.  That’s right!  Brain surgery!  In late August I was FINALLY diagnosed with quite an impressive brain tumor – THANK GOD!  It explained a lot!

Starting in late ’06, as most of you probably noticed (my personal apologies), I started to scale back operations with daVault.net Magazine & Radio.  Initially, it was due to budgeting.  But I, along with my surroundings, were changing and growing.  Hindsight being 20/20 as they say, I can now see how things were being pre-arranged and the puzzle pieces all put into place for me knowing what was to come in August.  Now 2008, the year of new beginnings, is in full swing.  But don’t get it twisted!  daVault.net ain’t about to go no where!  Although with my personal growth over the past year or so naturally reflected in my professional endeavors, it may have some different focus.  We’re still streaming online at http://www.live365.com/stations/davaultradio?play and were still blasting you the latest in events around the “Big A” and beyond through this email list.  But expect much more in the months to come!

That’s about it for now.  If you’re in or around Atlanta over the next week or so, please check out the key events below in Celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 79th birthday.  (See you there! ;-) If you’re not in the Atlanta area, GET HERE!  Kidding, but seriously, remember wherever you are that January 21st (the official observance holiday) was set aside as a day to serve: A Day On… Not A Day Off!

Grateful,

kristi

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration
Sponsored by the King Center
January 17-21, 2008
The 2008 King Holiday Observance will mark the 79th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the thirty-ninth Annual King Center Program and the twenty-first anniversary of the National Holiday in Dr. King’s honor. It is celebrated in some form in more than 100 countries around the world.

THEME: Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On,
Not A Day Off

The theme reiterates the importance of remembering Dr. King’s work and legacy, celebrating his birthday as a national holiday and acting on his teachings and principles of nonviolence and human rights. It also serves as a reminder that the holiday is a day on for community service initiatives and programs promoting interracial cooperation, not just a day off from work or school.
